We’ve had no rain
The paddocks, dusty, dry and bare;
There’s not a cloud anywhere;
And all around is deep despair,
For we have had no rain.
The wind blows strong and fills the air
With dust. It gets in everywhere.
It’s up your nose and in your hair,
For there has been no rain.
We haven’t sown a crop
this year;
The cost of seed is far too dear,
And then it wouldn’t grow, I fear
For we have had no rain.
The sheep have gone, we sold them cheap.
The dam is less than two foot deep.
It’s all enough to make you weep,
‘Cos we have had no rain.
